A bushfire recovery project delivering a resilient new bridge to replace infrastructure destroyed in the 2019–2020 NSW bushfires.

Following the destruction of School Creek Bridge during the Currowan Bushfire, InQuik worked alongside Shoalhaven City Council and regional contractors to rapidly deliver a permanent replacement bridge, reconnecting the community and strengthening the region's recovery.
School Creek Bridge is located on Budgong Road in the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales. The bridge serves a rural community that relies on the crossing for access to surrounding townships, services, and employment centers.
Following the Currowan Bushfire, the loss of the bridge created major disruptions for local residents, significantly increasing travel times. Restoring this connection became an important part of the region's broader recovery effort.
The original timber bridge was completely destroyed during the Currowan Bushfire, leaving only the concrete piers intact. Residents faced lengthy detours and limited access while funding, design, and construction arrangements were put in place.
The project required a solution that could be delivered quickly while providing a more resilient replacement capable of withstanding future natural disasters. Coordinating recovery works while supporting local industry participation was also a key objective.
InQuik worked closely with Shoalhaven City Council, local designers, and regional contractors to accelerate project delivery and restore access as quickly as possible. Bridge components were manufactured off-site before being transported to Shoalhaven for rapid assembly, significantly reducing construction time on site.
The project showcased the efficiency of the InQuik system and the capability of regional workforces, with all major reconstruction, earthworks, and cranage activities delivered by local businesses. The completed reinforced concrete bridge now provides a durable, low-maintenance crossing that strengthens the resilience of the local transport network.
