Eau Claire County Bridge

Wisconsin, USA

The first InQuik® bridge in the United States, delivered in just four weeks while reducing costs and empowering local delivery.

Eau Claire County Bridge

The first U.S. InQuik bridge proved that faster, simpler, and more resilient bridge construction is possible.

Faced with a deteriorating culvert, challenging site conditions, and a tight environmental construction window, Eau Claire County successfully delivered a new bridge over Bears Grass Creek using the InQuik system, completing the project faster and more cost-effectively than traditional methods.

Key project points

First U.S. InQuik Bridge
A milestone project demonstrating the successful introduction of InQuik technology into the American bridge market.

Rapid Construction
The bridge was completed in just four weeks, significantly faster than conventional cast-in-place bridge construction.

County Self-Installation
Eau Claire County delivered its first bridge project using its own workforce, keeping project funds and expertise within the local community.

Weather-Resilient Delivery
Prefabricated bridge components eliminated dewatering challenges despite rising water levels caused by summer storm events.

Long-Term Performance
The completed structure provides a durable, disaster-resilient, and virtually maintenance-free bridge solution.

The location

The bridge is located on Highway V in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, crossing Bears Grass Creek. The crossing forms part of the local road network and provides safe and reliable access for residents and road users throughout the region.

‍

Replacing the ageing culvert improved both roadway safety and network resilience. The project also served as an important demonstration of innovative bridge construction methods within the United States.

Challenges

The project faced a constrained construction window due to environmental requirements associated with fish spawning season. At the same time, intense summer storms raised water levels within the creek, creating conditions that could have complicated traditional formwork and cast-in-place construction methods.

‍

Eau Claire County was also undertaking its first bridge build using its own workforce, requiring a solution that was practical, efficient, and straightforward to install. Achieving all of these objectives within a compressed programme was critical to project success.

How we helped

InQuik provided a lightweight, pre-engineered bridge system that enabled Eau Claire County to construct the bridge using local resources and contractors. Prefabricated bridge components simplified installation, reduced site complexity, and eliminated the need for extensive dewatering works during fluctuating water conditions.

‍

The efficient "place and pour" methodology allowed the bridge to be completed in just four weeks, significantly reducing construction time compared to conventional alternatives. The result is a resilient, low-maintenance bridge that delivers long-term value while showcasing the versatility of the InQuik system in a new market.
